Updated DOAJ guide to applying

Hi Judith,

I have two questions regarding “endogeny”:

  1. For new applications, do you only review the endogeny of the most recent two issues?
  2. For social science journals that publish special issues in the same format as regular issues (for example, Issue 2 of this journal, where the manuscripts are handled by the EiC), how does DOAJ view situations where more than 25% of the papers are contributed by Guest Editors? I noticed that DOAJ has removed the criterion “DOAJ will not accept a journal if all content in the last year/volume is published as special issues.” How does this change impact the situation described above?

Thank you.

Hello

Here are the answers to your questions on our criteria reg. endogeny:

  1. Yes, we check for endogeny in the latest 2 issues for new applications.
  2. To quote “Papers submitted to a special issue by the guest editor(s) must be handled under an independent review process and make up no more than 25% of the issue’s total”. In addition to this is the special issue clearly labelled ?

Please write to helpdesk@doaj.org to clarify further concerns regarding our criteria.
